Introduction to Homeopathy: Home Prescribing for Beginners is a self-paced online course which guides students on how to apply Homeopathic remedies to treat minor ailments.

So what will I learn?
If you’ve heard of Arnica you’ve heard of Homeopathy. If you’ve used Arnica you’ve used Homeopathy. Homeopathic remedies are a gentle, safe and effective method of treatment that is individually based. Treating the “whole person” is an essential element of Homeopathy. Homeopathic remedies work with the body by stimulating its defence systems and speeding up the healing process.
Remedies are prepared in Homeopathic pharmacies by a method of dilution and succussion (that is shaking) and due to this method of preparation no toxic substances remain. There can be no danger from overdosing or addiction and remedies are safe for anyone to use.
The potency is the number you see next to a remedy, such as Arnica 30c, which tells you the number of times the substance has been diluted and succussed. The “c” stands for “centesimal” which is Latin for 100. The remedies in this course are recommended in the 30c potency.
You will learn about the key principles of Homeopathy and how they came about such as individualised treatment, “like cures like” and “the minimum dose”.
You will learn when to prescribe a Homeopathic remedy for a minor acute first-aid ailment and that not all minor acute ailments need a remedy.
We will look at commonly used remedies for minor injuries and accidents (examples would be Arnica, Rhus Tox) insect bites and stings (e.g. Apis, Ledum) colds and flu (e.g. Bryonia, Aconite) digestion (e.g. Nux Vomica, Lycopodium) and minor emotional issues (e.g. Ignatia, Argentum Nitricum) plus many more.
Specific information about symptoms is very important in Homeopathy because selecting a remedy is based entirely on the individual’s ailments. We will teach you how to use our simple framework “CLEWS” which will give you clues to look for when choosing a remedy.
You will be taught the best ways of storing remedies and what to avoid when taking your remedy - in order to give it the best chance of working. You will also learn how to take a Homeopathic remedy correctly, how often to repeat it and when to stop taking the remedy.

Meet your new teacher
Anne Marie O'Bradaigh
Anne Marie has been a practising Homeopath since 2004 when she graduated from the Burren School of Homeopathy, in Ireland. Following on from that, she completed a postgraduate course in London with Dr. A.U. Ramakrishnan, a renowned Indian Homoeopath who specialises in treating chronic disease. In 2019 Anne Marie completed a two-year Post-graduate Diploma in Homeopathy with The Allen College of Homeopathy in London.
During her third year of training Anne Marie had the privilege of gaining clinical experience in Mumbai, India at the clinic of Dr. Sudhir Baldota, who is a member of an innovative group of Homeopaths affectionately known as the Bombay group.
Anne Marie also studied at the Penny Brohn Cancer Care centre in Bristol, England (formally known as the Bristol Cancer Care Centre), where she gained a certificate in ‘Working with People with Cancer for Complementary Therapists’.
She has a special interest in supportive treatment for the palliative care stage of life and for mental/emotional suffering at the end of life. She authored an article on “End-of-Life Care and Homeopathy”, in Hpathy.com – the world’s No.1 Homeopathic website: https://hpathy.com/clinical-cases/end-of-life-care-and-homeopathy/
Anne Marie was also Secretary of The Irish Society of Homeopaths for a number of years and organised and wrote the Society’s policy on End-of-Life Care as well as their submission to the Forum on End-of-Life Care in Ireland run by the Irish Hospice Foundation, 2009.
Anne Marie describes her introduction to Homeopathy as follows: “I first became interested in Homeopathy during a minor personal illness. With no improvement from conventional medicine, I decided to explore complementary medicine. I initially trained and practised Reflexology and while I was training as a Reflexologist I heard of Homeopathy. I decided to give it a try and found it achieved great results.
Over the next two years with regular visits to my Homeopath, my health continued to improve. I brought my two children for Homeopathic treatment and saw how beneficial it was for them. I especially liked how Homeopathy considered the whole individual as part of the physical issue we presented with. The great results we as a family were having from Homeopathic treatment led me to do an Introduction to Homeopathy First-Aid course and I loved it so much that I then signed up for a four-year licentiate to qualify as a Homeopath”.

We will advise you to continue taking any prescribed medications. Homeopathy will work well alongside these medications. We advise that you keep a good relationship with any medical and other healthcare providers.

Your fee covers the time we spend together taking your case and reflects the time taken during and after the consultation time. Following our meeting I will spend time working on your case and researching to find the best remedy for you.
For most UK clients a remedy is sent to you after the consultation, remedy costs, postage, and packaging is covered in your fee.
For clients living outside the UK, I will advise on a homeopathic pharmacy where they can purchase their remedy.
Yes, it's important to see your child and observe how they interact with people. However, they are not required to stay for the whole period of the consultation.
The initial consultation will usually last 90 minutes, during which time we will discuss your current symptoms and health goals, and past medical history. Generally, I will ask a series of questions to help me build a picture of your symptoms and how you experience them in your own unique way.
Prior to the initial consultation you will be sent a welcome pack and a short form to tell me about your current symptoms.
Following our initial consultation, I would generally advise at least two follow up 60-minute
appointments to assess progress. One remedy at a time is normally given, however I may suggest that you alternate remedies over a few days/weeks.
