Homeopathy's Winning Formula for Sports Injuries.
We all want to stay active but sometimes we become over-enthusiastic, which may lead to injury. Sports injuries and muscular pain can be common setbacks for active individuals. Homeopathy offers remedies to aid the healing process and relieve pain. Arnica, a well-known remedy for trauma and bruising, is often used for sports injuries. It is the top choice for muscle strain when the person has over-used their muscles.
Other remedies like Rhus Toxicodendron for sprains and strains that feel stiff and painful worse on first movement - such as first thing in the morning - but better when they move around for a bit. They feel better when heat is applied to the injured area.
Bryonia can be used for muscle pain where every tiny movement hurts. They just want to stay rigidly still. These remedies are valuable additions to your homeopathic first aid kit.
Acute illness, first aid situations can often be successfully treated at home with remedies from a homeopathic first aid kit which can be purchased at a Homeopathic pharmacy or at “The Natural Dispensary” using my code AMOB15 to get 15% off.
Some general tip for injuries:
Stay calm and assess the situation, remove any jewellery from an injured hand before it swells. To help with swelling raise an injured leg or ankle and keep a hand or arm raised in a sling. You should not give an injured person food after a big shock until they are more settled. Applying local heat can help relax knotted muscles.
Some people bruise more easily than others so if there is bruising apply a cold compress to the area. Apply Arnica cream or ointment to UNBROKEN skin - never to broken skin.
To prevent muscle strain in the first place: never lift things with a bent or twisted back; bend your knees instead and keep your back straight, don’t try to lift and twist at the same time. Sit upright as much as possible, if you spend a lot of time sitting down have a stretch and walk around every half hour or so. Use a chair which supports the small of your back. Avoid carrying heavy shoulder bags especially if worn on the same shoulder all the time. Where possible split the load you carry – carry a bag in each hand. Sleep on a firm mattress.
For a fracture: If a bone is cracked or broken get professional help. In the meantime, here is some helpful advice while waiting for help: Do not move the casualty any more than is absolutely necessary to stop any bleeding and cover the wound. In cases where the journey to hospital may take some time, immobilise the affected part as best you can to prevent further damage and bleeding. For example, bandage the arm against the chest, one leg to the other, the jaw to the head.
Check the extremities of the injured limb for circulation, colour and feeling, and loosen bandages if necessary. Watch for signs of SHOCK, these can be sweating, faintness, nausea, rapid breathing and pulse, pallor, cold clammy skin, and as the brain runs out of oxygen the person becomes confused and drowsy, then loses consciousness.
